Duo held for stealing  centering plates  worth Rs 1 lakh

MAPUSA: The Mapusa Police arrested two persons for allegedly stealing 45 centering plates worth Rs 1 lakh, at Galwar, Aldona.

The arrested include 21-year-old Rajuel Mohammad Naru Shaikh and 41-year-old Bipul Kanti Ranjit Biswas, a native of West Bengal. Both are presently residing in Merces.

According to Mapusa Police, 57-year-old Henrique Cardozo in his complaint stated that on Saturday at around 4.30 pm at Galwar, Aldona, the accused with their common intention, arrived in a mini tempo and stole 45 metal centering plates worth Rs 1 lakh fixed on a roadside retaining wall. The plates belonged to Gler Aguiar, a construction company where complainant is employed.

On receiving information about the duo, the police intercepted the mini tempo and during the search they found 30 metal centering plates. During interrogation, both the accused confessed to the crime.

The Police later seized the mini tempo which was used in the crime and registered an offence against the duo under Section 379 1PC r/w 34 of the IPC.
