
PANJIM: The State Electricity Department has announced that henceforth no cheque or demand draft will be accepted towards payment of power bills across Goa.
In a notification issued, Chief Electrical Engineer Raghuvir Keni said the department has initiated various digital payment options for consumers towards payment of electricity bills and other charges in view of Prime Minister’s vision towards ‘Digital India’.
“The payment gateways have been incorporated on the department’s website wherein consumers can make payments through credit or debit cards, internet banking and UPI,” he said.
The department has implemented the Bharat Bill payment system wherein payments can be carried out at various co-operative societies and banks. “All other digital options like BHIM app and other payment app, etc, have also been activated for payment,” Keni said.
Besides this, the department has installed Any Time Payment machines towards cash payments. It has also installed swipe machines (Point of Sale Machines) at each of its payment counters wherein the consumer can do payments through credit or debit card.
