MARGAO: The overflowing sewage manhole at Comba was inspected by a team of Sewage department officials. The affected Comba locals have warned of agitation if the flow is not stopped within three days. The residents have also demanded replacement of the North main sewer line which is the reason for the flow in the town areas.

Sewerage Department Engineer Prakash Pai alongwith local Councillor Ketan Kurtarkar, BJYM President Sharmad Raiturkar and others were present for the inspection. After the reporters took the engineer head on for not paying heed to the complaints of the locals, the engineer promised to get the problem sorted out shortly.

Raiturkar said, “We Combkaars and the affected people warn the department of massive agitation if they do not spot overflow of sewage within 3 days.”

Raiturkar also demanded that the North Main Sewerage line which is in dilapidated condition be replaced as soon as possible. “The dilapidated condition of this line is the reason for overflow of sewage,” he said.

He said that the line has also been choked by plastic and waste coming from domestic connections and urged the residents of Margao not to dump or throw plastic of waste into the lines.

Similar overflow of sewage has been seen in areas like Ambaji, Gogal, Margao town and Market areas and the people have still not got any respite.
