PANJIM: Goa’s former deputy inspector of police Vimal Gupta was questioned by Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) in an alleged bribery case. 

Gupta was questioned for nearly two hours in the year-old case that also names suspended

PSI Devyani Ambekar, her husband and suspended police constable Chetan Morajkar as accused. 

“He was quizzed in the first half of the day on Wednesday. We don’t require his further interrogation as of now but he may be called as and when required for the investigation,” an officer said. 

The complaint, alleging a bribery case, was lodged by then ACB SP Bosco George who had conducted a preliminary inquiry in the case. The IPS officer had come under the scanner following allegation that he accepted bribe from the PSI for closing a departmental enquiry against her. 

A month before the FIR was registered, the State government had relieved Gupta from the post of DIG. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had said the IPS officer was relieved because of his ‘not so good activities’.
