Falling streetlights put tourism infrastructure in bad light, criticise Colva locals

Question department and authorities if they can maintain recently launched facilities

MARGAO: Locals from Colva have criticised the quality of tourism infrastructure given that lamps from the streetlights have started to fall onto the ground.

Locals pointed out that not only is this a risk to tourists and locals who could suffer injuries if the lamps had fallen on them but it also sends a poor message about what kind of infrastructure is there at the famous beach. They further referred to the recent launches of various facilities for tourism at Colva and questioned if the tourism department and authorities are concerned about the maintenance of such facilities.

Incidentally, this issue of non-functioning streetlights in Colva had been raised at a recent inspection that was held about Colva’s tourism infrastructure.

The streetlights across Salcete taluka need to be repaired and recently the Power Minister had assured to expedite the works to replace these streetlights.
