MARGAO: Eppil Danwer was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Additional Sessions Fast Track Court, Margao on Wednesday for murdering Caju from Nuvem.

The court has held Danwer guilty Under Section 302 of the IPC and ordered that the accused undergo life imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 50,000 and in default undergo rigorous imprisonment for another year.  The period since the time the accused is in custody shall be set off,  says the Court order. Public Prosecutor Sanjay Samant represented the State.

According to the prosecution, the deceased died of fatal injuries after his throat was slit and his body dumped at the Anus-Nuvem foothill. 

The killer had fled after committing the murder and a police team of Maina Curtorim led by PSI Tejaskumar Naik nabbed the accused from the Kolibara market, in Jharkhand with the help of the local police.
