PANJIM: A fire services team inspected the venues for the St Francis Xavier feast at Old Goa. The inspection is aimed at preventing and suppressing unwanted fires during the Feast and to render prompt and efficient services during the feast days. 

Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES) along with other officials carried out the Fire Prevention Inspection at Bom Jesus Church, temporary control room setup in the Courtyard, pandal adjacent to the Catholic Enquiry Centre, candle stand area and deployed 85 fire personnel as standby for fire prevention duty at the spots. 

The novena for the St Francis Xavier Feast have begun on November 23 and the feast will be celebrated on December 3.
