MARGAO: Maina Curtorim Police arrested five persons for rioting and causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon for collectively along with others beating one person near Rainbow Valley at Mugali.

Apparently around 10 persons had gone to the wholesale liquor distributor there to pick up some alcohol where one Mehboob Sahimula alias Bichu, a 41-year-old resident of Davorlim, was also purchasing alcohol. However, as Bichu was smoking, the group objected to it and this led to an argument resulting in the group beating Bichu. They threw bottles at each other and somebody from the group even stabbed Bichu with a knife.

The five arrested are residents of Gogol and they are Heemat Usman Chaus, Mayur Dhurbatkar, Akshay Bala Borkar, Ramanand Morutkar and Jeetendra Naik. However, all five have been released on bail.
