BICHOLIM: Bicholim police on Sunday arrested five persons for setting ablaze three two-wheelers belonging to one Nikhil Prakash Navelkar from Dhabdhaba in Bicholim.

According to Bicholim police, Navelkar complained that Ramakant alias Gajendra Sawant from Pilgao in Bicholim along with five others from Bardez late night on Friday, at about 2.30 am, set on fire his two-wheeler which engulfed two other of his motorbikes parked nearby.

This incident was witnessed by two security guards at Vedanta gate. Fearing danger to their lives, they did not intervene.

However, when the suspects fled from the site, the two security guards Srushtibahadur and Jay Prakash Chawan brought water from the nearby houses and poured on all three motorbikes thus avoiding further loss and danger.  They later intimated the matter to Navelkar. Following the complaint from Navelkar police arrested Sawant and others who were later released on bail. One accused is absconding.

Police stated that Sawant committed this act as he wanted to teach a lesson to Navelkar for asking why he (Sawant) was riding a motorbike fast.
