Five journalists to be feted on National Press Day today

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will confer the Life Time Achievement Award in journalism for 2023 on veteran journalist Pramod Khandeparkar while, five senior journalists will be felicitated for their contribution in journalism at a function to be held at the Institute Menezes Braganza hall, Panjim at 9:30 am on Thursday, November 16, on the occasion of National Press Day.

The programme is organised by the Department of Information and Publicity in association with the Goa Editor’s Guild, Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ), Photo Journalist Association of Goa (PJAG), Sports Journalist Association of Goa (SJAG), Electronic Media Journalist Association of Goa (EMJAG) and South Goa Journalist Association (SGJA). 

The function will commence with an interactive session on the topic “Challenges and Opportunities in journalism in the ever increasing digital, mobile and social media environment.” The participants are Marcus Mergulhao, sports editor, Times of India; Mahesh Ghadi, senior reporter, Prudent Media; Niraj Naik, Digital Goa and Shripad Merchant, associate professor, Dnyanprasrak Mandal’s College and Research Centre. Vasudev Pagi, principal correspondent, Lokmat will be the moderator.

Five senior journalist to be felicitated for their contribution in journalism field are Vijay D’Souza, editor, The Navhind Times; Ashely Do Rosario, senior journalist, The Goan Everyday; Vilas Mahadik, senior reporter, Gomantak, Narendra Tari, senior journalist, Gomantak and Vithu Sukadkar, senior journalist, Lokmat.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries will present journalist awards instituted by the Department of Information and Publicity and also awards to winners of photography contest.
