PWD minister says government will take up development works worth Rs 140 cr in seven Bardez constituencies
MAPUSA: The PWD Minister, Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar, declared the flyover and underpass along the NH-17 at Tar-Bastora open to the public at a press briefing held in Mapusa.
Bardez taluka needs growth in three sectors -- roads and development, water supply and water resources getting exhausted.
“I am proud to say that the Manohar Parrikar led government will be taking up development works in seven constituencies to the tune of Rs140 crore,” Sudin said.
He went on to say that the “media keeps bringing to the attention of the government about the pot-holed roads. Taking cognisance of this they forward the pictures to the respective engineers on WhatsApp so that they can rectify the problem. From November 15 onwards various development works will be carried out starting with hot-mixing of roads.”
“In 2012, Manohar Parrikar had decided that hot-mixing of rural roads should be taken up. Each and every road even the internal roads of Goa are hot-mixed,” the PWD minister said.
Sudin pointed out that Mapusa needs a sewage system in place. “If this is not taken up now this town will face a lot of problems,” he added.
“The government is of the opinion that Mapusa will face severe crisis over the next 25 years if the sewage work in the town is not completed. The works of the new 6.5 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP) will commence by next month. I request the MMC to come forward and convince the locals so the works can be further carried out,” urged Sudin.
The works of the National Highway project of four-laning from Patradevi to Karaswada, Karaswada to Bambolim and Bambolim to Verna is being undertaken at a face pace.
Every year inspection and load testing of the Borim and Zuari Bridge are being carried out, the minister claimed.
