PERNEM: Pernem Police arrested 55-year-old Evgen Tumensev currently residing at a resort in New Wada, Morjim for violating Section 144 imposed by District Magistrate for allegedly organising a music event by playing loud music with 20-25 foreigners in attendance.

Pernem Police have registered offence under Sections 5 and 6 of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rule 2000 and Section 15 of Environmental Protection Act 1986. 

Police have confiscated piano, guitar and music mixer worth Rs 62,000.

According to sources, the party was organised at a resort in Morjim on Sunday night, which was attended by over 100 people. 

Disturbed by the loud music being played at the resort, the locals called up the police. 

The villagers claimed that when police arrived at the spot, but the police vehicle was parked metres away from the party spot and when they complained, the police went and stopped the party.

Sources informed that this party was attended by over 200 people including foreigners thereby violating all COVID 19 norms and Section 144. The villagers demanded that the police book the violators. 

A video shared by the locals on social media, shows many vehicles parked outside the resort and several people coming out and standing outside the resort without face masks and not practising social distancing.
