Foundation stone to be laid for Navelim hospital on Feb 9

MARGAO: A mega health camp will be held for the third consecutive year at Navelim sub health centre on February 9 where the foundation stone for a 12-bedded attached hospital will also be laid, announced Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro.

Briefing media persons he said the health camp is meant for all people of Navelim constituency and added that besides those ailing from any ailment constituents can also come for a general check up to prevent any diseases.

Doctors from Goa Medical College, Goa Dental College, ESI, Hospicio and Health Services will be attending the patients. Doctors from gynaecology, medicine, paediatrics, surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, ENT and dentistry will be present to check the patients.

A mobile van will be present with the dental chair for dental patients. Participants requiring further treatment at GMC will be given a coupon that will accord priority to them at GMC instead of wasting time waiting in the long queues, said Luizinho.

Last year 96 doctors attended to people with 55 doctors coming from Goa Medical College along with the Dean of GMC. Director of Health Services was also present last year where 400 villagers were given free glasses besides being given free medicines that were donated by the hospitals and the panchayats.

This year Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has been invited for the function as he has sanctioned the 12 bedded hospital for the health centre. Luizinho praised Vishwajit for helping him as the centre has specialists visiting it once a week besides having dialysis unit that is helping many.

Assuring that the health camp will be adequately publicized in the constituency, he appealed to the health workers to fill up the chart with patients details including medications prescribed to enable the doctors analyse what is wrong with the person when they come for the camp.

Luizinho said the government has to be concerned about the health of its citizens and said the health camp is one way of taking health care to the people’s doorstep.

“Health of every citizen is the responsibility of the government, society and every individual and hence all should work together so that all live a healthy and fit life,” he said.
