PANJIM: The State recorded four COVID-19 deaths within 24 hours, all of whom were at Goa Medical College (GMC). The daily mortality bulletin on Sunday mentioned that the deceased were aged above 70 years having co-morbid conditions like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, ischaemic heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

One patient from Quepem died on Saturday night, COVID-19 patients from Arpora, Assagao and Sanquelim succumbed on Sunday. “All four patients who have expired due to COVID-19 have received full treatment as per protocol for an average of 7 to 11 days,” it said.

This takes the total COVID-19 deaths to 290. The media bulletin on the status of COVID-19 stated that 407 new positive cases were reported on Sunday while 553 persons recovered. With this, the total confirmed cases stand at 24,592 while active cases are recorded at 5,173 and total recoveries are 19,129.

On Sunday, 200 persons opted for home isolation while 178 suspects were put in hospital isolation. At present, a total of 28 persons are quarantined at various residencies/hotels.

The bed capacity, as per the bulletin, is available at COVID care centres with 164 and 482 beds vacant across North and South districts respectively.
