Four security guards, three scrap dealers arrested for Kundaim Industrial Estate theft

PONDA: The Ponda police have successfully cracked a blind theft case, wherein 501 bags of plastic raw material worth Rs 15.70 lakh, were stolen from a plastics company at the Kundaim Industrial Estate on January 23. The police arrested seven people in connection with the theft- four security guards working in the vicinity of the IDC and three scrap dealers for purchasing the stolen goods.  

After the theft was reported by Vrindavan Polymers Pvt Ltd at IDC Kundaim, the Ponda police began discreet surveillance of the four security guards who had suspiciously gone into hiding.

The four guards, identified as Sujit Goala, 26 , Papu Goala, 22, Sumatlal Goala,28, and Manoj Goala, 26, all  natives of Assam were apprehended by the police and interrogated at length. They confessed to the crime, and also disclosed the names of the three scrap dealers – Salman Khan, 23, Sabir Khan, 34 and Faizal Khan, 29, all residents of Bhoma, Ponda, who bought the stolen goods off them. All seven were placed under arrest and stolen property worth Rs 2 lakh was recovered.  

The investigating team led by PI Vijaykumar Chodankar comprised PSI Suraj Kakonkar, HC Kedarnath Zalmi, HC Suraj Gawde, and others under the overall supervision of the SP South.
