Four ‘ANC sleuths’ rob driver of cash at Dramapur

MARGAO: Four unknown persons late Saturday night, imposing as anti-narcotics cell (ANC) sleuths, wrongfully restrained a pickup driver at Dramapur and robbed him of cash of Rs 90,800.

Twenty-four-year-old pickup driver Abdul Rahim Shaikh, a Karnataka native in his complaint to the Margao Police stated that on Saturday at around 11 pm, four unknown persons arrived on two motorcycles; wrongfully restrained him on the national highway near Dramapur bus stand late night. The accused said they were from anti-narcotics cell and wanted to check the vehicle for drugs and alcohol. They later decamped with cash of Rs 90,800 from the vehicle.

Margao Police have registered an offence against unknown persons under Sections 341 and 379 read with 34 of the IPC.

The complainant said the stolen cash was to be delivered to his owner one Fayyaz in Bhatkal.

Margao Police have sent wireless messages to the other police stations based on the complainant’s description of the accused. 

Meanwhile, the Anti-Narcotic Cell on Sunday conducted a raid near Tiracol ferry point and arrested Pavlo Plachinta, 32, Ukraine national for illegally possessing pieces of blackish sticky substance suspected to be charas weighing 615 grams worth Rs 3.50 lakh approximately. 

A case has been registered against Plachinta under Section 20(b) (ii) (B) of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
