PANJIM: The Goa Lokayukta Justice (Retd) A H Joshi on Thursday directed the Secretary (Transport) to ensure that the information sought by complainant Sudip Tamankar under Right To Information (RTI) Act be furnished to him latest on or before July 12, failing which the Secretary (Transport) is directed to personally remain present before the Lokayukta on July 12.

RTI activist Tamankar has filed a complaint under Section 11 of Goa Lokayukta Act, 2011, against the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTTC), its managing director and the Goa State Transport Authority for using public office for favouring an app-based taxi service in the State.

According to Tamankar, the Transport Department issued guidelines for anybody wishing to apply for app based taxi service should have minimum 450 taxis. Accordingly, the Frotamiles Private Limited submitted a list of 455 taxis. But when Tamankar obtained information of these 455 taxis, he found that some of the registration numbers were of public buses and not taxis. Hence, he sought further information under RTI Act seeking details of permits issued to 455 taxis and driving licences as per submitted by the applicant.

Tamankar said he approached the Goa Lokayukta since the government had committed complete favouritism and were not giving information sought by him under RTI Act.
