GBSHSE to set up online centre-based exams

PANJIM: Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) have proposed setting up ‘online centre based’ exams with multiple centers to conduct examination in future after successfully conducting mock online exams for Class X students from the remote talukas.
The Board is of the view that the ‘online exam’ system is capable of handling low network bandwidth very smoothly.
Goa Board chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that in the current COVID-19 scenario and keeping student’s health concern in mind, remote online exam is the best way of assessing student’s eligibility.
Shetye said that the Mock Online Exam was conducted successfully across all remote talukas with more than 80 per cent attendance and student had seamless experience of the system.
“It was learnt that the online exam system is capable of handling low network bandwidth very smoothly,” he said.
He said that considering the online examination trend in future, online centers based exam system can be set up with multiple centers involving stringent protocols.
A total of 1,329 students appeared for the mock tests which attributes to 80 per cent of total students registered for the exam. Sattari reported highest with 90 per cent attendance while Sanguem reported the least with 55 per cent approx.

CET registration started for science stream aspirants
PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has begun registration process for the Common Entrance Test (CET) for the Class X students aspiring to seek admissions in Science or Diploma courses in Class XI.
The students can register themselves online for the CET 2021, which is likely to take place by the last week of July.
Goa Board chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that only those students wanting to take admissions to science stream or diploma courses in Class XI, should apply for CET.
“Tentatively, we have scheduled the exams in the last week of July,” he said adding that Board might announce the Class X result, before the schedule date of July 13.
Shetye said that no decision has been taken so far whether the exams will be held in online or offline mode.
The Board’s online mock test for the Class X students from remote areas received nearly 80 per cent response.
