GEC students call off boycott

PONDA: Mines engineering students of Goa Engineering College (GEC) called off their indefinite boycott of classes demanding payment of salaries to their faculty and staff, on Wednesday.

PONDA: Mines engineering students of Goa Engineering College (GEC) called off their indefinite boycott of classes demanding payment of salaries to their faculty and staff, on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the students went on an indefinite boycott of classes over non-payment of salaries to their faculty and non-teaching staff.

Following this development, Director of Technical Education Vivek Kamat visited the college, met the students, deliberated on the salary issue of faculty/staff and assured to sort out the same within eight days time. Kamat also met the faculty, separately, and discussed their salary issues. 

On being assured by Kamat, the students called off their indefinite boycott and joined classes, on Wednesday.
