PANJIM: The Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) will take up bulk promotions in the Public Works Department (PWD) during its departmental promotion committee meeting scheduled on May 26. 

GPSC chairman Jose Manuel Noronha said, “The commission will consider promotions to the positions of Superintending Engineers (SEs) and executive engineers (EEs) at the Departmental Promotion Committee meeting.” 

He said that there are five posts of SEs to be filled while another 47 vacancies of EEs to be filled.

Executive Engineers, who possess a degree in civil engineering with five years of experience, are eligible to be promoted to SE, whereas Assistant engineers, who have a degree in civil engineering and possess 8 years experience, are eligible to be promoted to EE.

 Diploma holders, who are AE, should possess 12 years of experience. 

"The commission is considering such a bulk promotions after many years and these officials once considered and appointed will open up further promotional avenues in the department at the Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer level," Noronha said. 

The Chairman informed that the GPSC will also take up promotions in Goa Medical College , Tourism Department , Archives , Factories and boilers  and Forensic Science Laboratory on that day. 

The meeting is convened by the commission on circulation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.
