GSL rejects its work affecting buildings in vicinity

VASCO: The Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) has claimed that the work at its Vollant site has all the necessary permissions and clearances from all the authorities; and it outright dismissed the allegations of the locals. 

The GSL said that there was no effect to its own structures which are close by, as such discounted effect on other buildings.

The people of Vollant area had complained of damage to buildings caused by vibrations created by piling work of at GSL project. The GSL said that the complaints of Vollant locals were factually incorrect and tarnishes the reputation of GSL.

“Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) is presently undertaking the construction of MCMV Command, Control & Design Office building as part of the Government of India / Ministry of Defence approved modernisation plan for strategic project of Indian Navy. The aforesaid building is being constructed with all statutory clearances / permissions required from authorities concerned,” a GSL official said.   

Clarifying the nature of work, the GSL said, “The sheet pile shoring is being undertaken as approved by technical experts.”
