PANJIM: Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM), which was routed in the recent Goa Assembly Elections, has decided to contest the 2022 polls.

Speaking to Herald, GSM, President Anand Shirodkar said, “GSM on Sunday held a review meeting which was attended by 81 workers from 32 constituencies to take stock of the current situation and the achievement of the party in the Assembly elections. We also discussed future strategy as in how the party should prepare to tackle the 2022 polls.”

“We might have not won a single seat but we are set to come out stronger in the 2022 elections, as the party has decided to contest the next elections. We achieved a major thing in this elections which is, bringing down the BJP tally from 21 to 13,” Shirodkar said.

He said that GSM damaging the BJP in the recent elections gave Congress a clear chance to form the government. “We had fielded five candidates during these elections because of the alliance with MGP and Shiv Sena and most people were of the opinion that if GSM had to go alone it would have done a much better job,” he said.

GSM also resolved to restructure its committee members from April 23 to May 20 and hold a convention of these new committees on May 28.
