GTDC to lease out space to FRRO, India tourism

PANJIM: Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to lease out office space to set up the FRRO that currently operates at Dabolim airport. A board meeting chaired by GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral resolved to allot 300 sq mtrs of space at Paryatan Bhavan, Patto for an immigration facilitation service.

PANJIM: Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to lease out office space to set up the FRRO that currently operates at Dabolim airport. A board meeting chaired by GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral resolved to allot 300 sq mtrs of space at Paryatan Bhavan, Patto for an immigration facilitation service.

“It will be a one-stop centre for the foreign tourists. It will ease out the process as all tourism-related queries will be addressed under one roof at our Paryatan Bhavan premise,” Cabral told Herald. The Board has also decided to lease out some space for the India Tourism office. 

The Board has also approved the proposal to renovate four of its existing residencies at Mapusa, Margao, Vasco and Calangute annex. “It is proposed to give all these residencies a facelift and facilities,” he said.

Some of the other decisions taken by the Board include the construction of a Convention Centre in South Goa which will have large halls for events, weddings, banquets.

In another major decision, the Board has agreed to float fresh tenders to appoint agencies for the maintenance and upkeep of the multi-level car parking project and Santa Monica Jetty. The maintenance is currently handled by GTDC. GTDC has also proposed to buy new buses which would be later designed as Camiaos for conducting sightseeing tours. 

An official said adding, “The Board has also agreed to develop jetties for tourism purpose.”
