PANJIM: Ahead of semester end examination for final year post graduate students scheduled in July, the Goa University has established a Special Grievance Cell for handling the issues of the students related to examination and other academic activities arising due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Special Grievance cell, set up under Dean-Faculty of Natural Sciences Kaustubh Priolkar, will be in place till December 31, 2020. 

Following recommendation from the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Goa University has announced that the new Academic Year 2020-21 will begin from August 1, for the ongoing students. In case of newly admitted students, the decision will be taken subsequently. 

University decided that all semester end examinations for the current semester will commence from July 1 onwards however, has cancelled examination for the first and second year students of its undergraduate programmes, affiliated to various colleges, and the students will be promoted based on internal assessment. 

"Pursuant to the UGC guidelines on examinations and academic calendar issued in view of COVID-19 pandemic, the Vice Chancellor is pleased to establish a Special Grievance Cell at Goa University for handling grievances of the students related to examinations and other academic activities arising due to the pandemic," Registrar Y V Reddy said in the notification issued. 

The summer vacation is been extended by the University up to May 31, while the current academic term is extended up to July 31.
