MAPUSA: The Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTCL) and the Mapusa Municipal Council need to file a compliance report by May 10, after the Urban Health Centre (UHC) issued a notice under Goa Public Health 1985 and Rules 1987 regarding the unattended garbage being dumped at the entrance of the bus stand.

Taking cognisance of the complaint filed by the GOACAN which provided photographs of the garbage dumped, Dr  Dinesh Parab, health officer of Mapusa Urban Health Centre issued the first notice to the KTCL general manager and the Mapusa chief officer, with a copy of the same  marked to the Deputy Collector and SDM,Mapusa.

It may be noted that every morning, passengers arriving at the Mapusa bus stand had to encounter the horrible sight of the garbage dump at the entrance of the bus stand.

The GOACAN took the initiative to get the KTCL to remove the broken wall and non-functional gate which were facilitating the dumping of garbage at the entrance. Subsequently GOACAN requested KTCL to tar that portion of the land so that buses and other vehicles could have a smooth entry into the bus stand and put an end to garbage dumping at the spot at the same time.

GOACAN is hopeful that with the UHC Notice, the KTCL and the Mapusa Municipal Council will take proactive steps to end the garbage dumping at the bus stand entrance.
