Garbage dumping shed along highway NH 4-A in Corlim needs to be shifted

Garbage dumping shed along highway NH 4-A in Corlim needs to be shifted

We wish to bring to your attention the dumping of garbage – mostly dry waste items such as mattresses, plastic bags, etc, but increasingly wet kitchen waste at an overflowing shed along the highway almost adjacent to the entrance gate of Deccan Company, Corlim, Tiswadi and opposite to “Camilo Wines”.

We live in close proximity to the said dump site along the highway. The bad sight and foul smell is affecting our health and spoiling the image of our village and our State – as there are hundreds of visitors from other States and countries that use this highway.

We had earlier written to the Executive Engineer PWD (Highways) on January 1, 2024, concerning this but received no reply. Even if the regular clearance of the said site is done, the presence of the shed invites people under cover of darkness to shamelessly stop their vehicles to throw garbage from their cars and two-wheelers in the vicinity of the shed. Hence we request that the shed be relocated further along the highway but in an area off the main road nearer the Banastarim bridge.

There is also a need for the undergrowth of the divider strip between opposing streams to be cut so that traffic may be safely conducted.
