MAPUSA: A readymade garment godown owned by one Jitendra Bhagnani was gutted in fire at Calangute on Wednesday causing a loss in lakhs of rupees.
According to Pilerne Fire Station in-charge Rupesh Sawant, the control room received call at 7.50 am, informing them about the fire in a godown at Calangute.
Immediately, fire tenders of Pilerne and Mapusa Fire Stations rushed to the spot. Both the fire-fighting teams doused the fire at around 3.35 pm.
The exact cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
The station has written to the Calangute Police and Electricity Department to ascertain the exact cause of fire. This is the third fire incident in past one week.
The fire teams comprised Mapusa SFO B A Ferrao, Rupesh Sawant SFO, Mapusa sub officer A S Parab, Pilerne Sub officer Pradeep Mandrekar, Fire Fighters A A Volvoikar, A A Satardekar, J S Kandolkar, A V Naik, N A Chodankar, P N Gaonkar, S M Korgaonkar, Ladu Sawant, Rama Naik, Anand Bandekar, Nilesh Gawade, Sameer Shetye, Nikhil Sawal, Jitendra Bali, Viraj Khandolkar and Rudresh Pandre.
