Goa’s oldest woman dies at 111

CALANGUTE: Supercentenarian Matilda D’Souza (Matty) from Naikavaddo, Calangute, said to be Goa’s oldest woman, died peacefully on Sunday, at the age of 111 in a private hospital in Mapusa. 

Matty D'Souza was born in Calangute on October 25, 1911, three years before World War I. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 19 at 3.30 pm at St Alex Church, Calangute.

Having lost her eldest son some years back, she lives behind two sons and two daughters besides grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

Matilda D’Souza had become the oldest living person in Goa following the death of 112-year-old Lourdina Conceicao Lobo on November 3, 2021.
