Buying, selling of MLAs is a reality in Goa: Atishi

Team Herald

PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Goa desk in-charge Atishi on Sunday said that a sting operation by the national media has exposed that three Goa Congress candidates and one Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate were taking cash for defections post-election. This sting has revealed that buying and selling MLAs in Goa is a reality and not fiction.

Atishi stated the Congress and TMC candidates have taken the advance and will be sold to the BJP on March 11. She said, "We call on the election commission to disqualify them immediately. They have made a mockery of our democracy.”

She said, "We had heard that MLAs are sold or bought. The legislators join another party by taking money before the election, or after the election, the winning candidates are bought. Through this sting operation, the truth has now been revealed to the people of Goa. In this video, Congress and TMC candidates say that if they receive money or a ministry, they will leave their current party and will join the BJP.”

She further said, "In the video, one clearly states that he will join the BJP if the Congress does not form a government. He also says he will accept money and a ministerial post. In addition, he says he will bring 3-4 MLAs to the BJP".

"Another Congress candidate from Velim, in the video makes a clear statement saying that if offered a ministerial position, he will join the BJP,” she added.

Further she said, "A Congress candidate, is clearly seen receiving cash in his hands in the video, and he also claims to have good connections within the BJP. The TMC candidate  was caught on camera receiving cash. He also says that if BJP forms the government, he will join them 100 percent.”

"Goans have two options for the forthcoming elections — either vote for AAP and have an honest government or support BJP directly or indirectly in order to form the government,” she added.
