PANJIM: Former Chief Minister and Poriem MLA Pratapsingh Rane on Thursday refuted the claims made by BJP Goa election in-charge Devendra Fadnavis that he had consulted him while, deciding on giving ticket to his daughter-in-law Divya Rane. Rane said that he had not discussed any politics with Fadnavis when he visited him a few months back.
“Whatever Fadnavis has said about me is wrong. He had come to my place many days back and we did not discuss politics that day. Poriem is not my property and whether I will contest or not is a different thing.”
Rane was present in Panjim when all the MLAs had met for their campaign launch and reiterated that whatever Fadnavis had said was false. However he fell short of confirming whether he will contest, saying that will be seen soon but acknowledged that the party had already announced his candidature for Poriem.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) Dinesh Rao tweeted, “It’s indeed unfortunate that the BJP is attributing falsehoods to the highly respected personality Pratapsingh Rane. He has fought BJP all his life and to impute that he is supporting them is downright insulting. Shameful tactics by @Dev_Fadnavis”
