PANJIM: Before the weekend, those who set the controversial English question paper of the SSC Board exam will be known as the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary School Education (GBSHSSE) is expected to conclude its ongoing inquiry in three days.

“We are inquiring into the matter. In two or three days, action against the culprit will be initiated accordingly,” Goa Board chairman Ramkrishna Samant told Herald, but declined to divulge further details.

BJP in Goa has taken offence to a question that suggested applying for a Portuguese passport was the right decision owing to high level of corruption and unemployment in the State, and demanded action against the paper setter.

“It is not good to set such a question. Debar the paper setter, scrutiniser, coordinator and anyone associated in the process of paper setting of English paper, in setting question papers in future. They should face action,” BJP State general secretary Narendra Sawaikar said, urging Goa Board to initiate inquiry.

Sawaikar recalled the efforts by the governments in Goa and Centre to bring back its citizens stranded in various parts of the globe. On the repatriation of various seafarers and workmen currently stranded abroad, Sawaikar, also NRI Commissioner, reiterated that the Central government has been pursuing the matter with concerned authorities in the respective countries.
