Goa Board to introduce new subject in psychology

PANJIM: From the coming academic year, the higher secondary students opting for psychology will have a new subject titled ‘Introduction of Practicum Component’ with the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education intending its implementation despite no higher secondary school has responded to that suggestions.

PANJIM: From the coming academic year, the higher secondary students opting for psychology will have a new subject titled ‘Introduction of Practicum Component’ with the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education intending its implementation despite no higher secondary school has responded to that suggestions. 

The decision was taken after the Board of Studies in Psychology proposed to introduce the subject for Class XI and Class XII from 2017 and 2018 academic years, respectively. The Board had then written to the schools for their comments/suggestions. 

“We have not received any response from the institutions. Nevertheless, we are introducing the subject from next academic year 2017-18. The syllabus for both the classes will be different,” GBSHSE Secretary Shivkumar Jangam told Herald.  

Meanwhile, the Board, in a separate circular had informed about including a poem – The Different Normals by Frederika Menezes & Story – The Legacy of Love by Laxmanrao Sardesai in the study material of English Language I for class XI.  Similarly, classes IX and X students have been assigned a financial education project in Mathematics. The financial education topics in school curriculum is implemented from the current academic year that includes field work in the markets, banks while also preparing a chart on the importance of savings.
