PANJIM: To strengthen engineering, managerial and capacity for water supply and wastewater management in the State, Goa government and Ministry of Environment of Portuguese Republic entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) – a two year agreement that will also promote international cooperation through knowledge sharing and capacity building.

The MoU for technical cooperation was entered into between the Portuguese Ministry through Aguas De Portugal and Goa government’s Public Works Department, which is the nodal agency for water supply and wastewater management in the State.

As per the MoU, both the agencies would share knowledge, disseminate best practices, implement pilot projects and train personnel through annual meetings and alternate visits.

The detailed implementation programme will include pilot project on asset management procedures and standards, energy management, operational work flows and chemical dosing systems, operational data and information management and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and tele-management systems.

The MoU comes following Prime Minsiter of Portugal’s visit to India and subsequent visits of technical mission from Goa to Portugal (Aguas De Portugal) and team from the Portugal agency to Goa.
