MARGAO: Many students of the Goa Board are yet to get their textbooks, and hence parents are anxious about how students are going to cope-up with the syllabus.
However, the Goa Board assured to make available all textbooks of Class 9 and Class 10 in the market by Monday.
Many parents have brought to the notice of the Herald that not only in Margao and Panjim, but even in other parts of the State hundreds of students are attending the classes without textbooks. Vendors too have claimed that they received only one instalment of textbooks that was a small quantity. At the moment several parents are noticed on the run in search of textbooks for their children.
It has been revealed that textbooks of many subjects of 9th and 10th class are not available in the shops selling school textbooks. Shockingly, many schools have not distributed textbooks to the students studying in class 1st to 8th. Major shortages of textbooks have been reported of class 9, wherein the textbooks of English, Hindi, Konkani, History, Science and Math are found to be not available in the market.
Speaking to Herald, one of the leading textbook vendors of Margao said that only once he had received a very few quantity textbooks, and thereafter no distribution has been done to him.
