PANJIM: Claiming that law and order in the State has collapsed, Congress has alleged that several requests to Goa government to fill in the vacant post of the Chairman of State Police Complaints Authority have not yielded any response.
“The SPCA has no chairman for a very long time and the government is not making efforts to fill-in the post. How will people get justice?” party’s spokesperson Adv Rohit Bras De Sa said at a press conference on Sunday.
The need for a chairman is in view of several instances wherein the police department are succumbing to political pressure to not act against some crimes. The party has also sought action against errant officers but there has been no response.
“Our applications requesting Chief Minister and Chief Secretary for SPCA Chairman have not been heeded to,” he said demanding that the post be filled before the Lok Sabha polls.
