PANJIM: Old Goa police conducted a raid and arrested 6 persons for playing card gambling in open public place near St Cruz Health Centre, on Friday. 

PI Jivba Dalvi said that he received information that six persons were playing card gambling in public place.

 Accordingly a raiding team was formed, which raided the place, arrested 6 persons. Rs 14,170 wereseized along with other gambling articles.

The arrested persons are Umesh Vishram Ghogle, 34, Ramesh Sahani, 38, Sanjay Krishna Kumar, 21, Rintu Sahani, 25, Shankare Krishnappa Lamani, 24, all are residents of St Cruz and Dattaram Anant Naik, 26, a resident of Mala in Panjim.

All accused persons have been arrested under Section 11(2)(a) of Goa Daman & Diu Prevention of Gambling Act and further investigation is in progress. 

The staff of raiding party consisted of PI Jivba Dalvi, LPSI Priyanka Sawant, LPSI Veronica Coutinho, Police constables Mayur Asulkar, Samir Phadte, Laximan Matonkar, and Gitesh Gawas.
