MAPUSA: The bodies of two male tourists were recovered at Miramar and Benaulim beaches while five of them were rescued at Calangute, Agonda, Rajbag and Dudhsagar waterfalls respectively.

At Benaulim beach, two foreign tourists who ventured into the sea were hit by a wave. They cried for help and the tower captain and lifeguard rushed to the spot and brought them safely to the shore. Since one of the victims was unconscious, CPR was administered and was later rushed to the hospital in a 108 ambulance, states a press release issued by Dhristi.

Unfortunately, the doctor on duty declared him dead. The victim’s family informed the lifeguards that the deceased was an excellent swimmer but was suffering from a heart ailment.

In another incident reported at Miramar beach, at around 3 pm, a body of another tourist was spotted in the waters. The lifeguard on duty Sakharam Salgaonkar alerted the lifeguard tower and retrieved the body. The police were informed about the same and conducted the panchanama.

Red and yellow flags have been put across all beaches under Drishti Marine’s surveillance.
