PANJIM: Power Minister Nilesh Cabral has urged MGP to take a sensible decision on contesting the forthcoming by-polls in Mandrem, Mapusa and Shiroda, as the alliance partners need each other.

Cabral, who is in the BJP screening committee to pick up candidates for Lok Sabha and Assembly by-polls, said that both BJP and MGP need each other.

“Both of us (BJP and MGP) require each other. PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar is a very senior politician and he should take the right and sensible decision,” Cabral said while reacting to queries by journalists on the sidelines of a function.

The MGP has already announced that it would contest all the three Assembly seats going for by-polls in the State.

While MGP President Dipak Dhavalikar has started election campaign in Shiroda, the party wants to field Vinod Phadke in Mapusa and the party is yet to zero in on a candidate for Mandrem.
