VASCO: Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday inaugurated the GoaMiles taxi counter at the Dabolim international airport.
Speaking on the occasion, Godinho said that the government will soon introduce multimodal transportation system in the State. Alleging that some people were spreading misinformation, instigating and creating trouble, he said that he will not heed to them and provide cheap and reliable app-based transportation for the passengers at the airport.
Reiterating that the Dabolim airport will continue to operate, he said that the government is trying to combine the synergy of both - Dabolim and Mopa airports in both the districts.
“Goa is a brand by itself as the most preferred destination in the world,” he said pointing to reports on social media about complaints of overcharging and fleecing by taxi operators.
Godinho said that the multimodal transport service in the State will help tourists to choose any type of transport including a two-wheeler and it will be a cheap and safe transport.
He said that there was demand to continue app-based taxi service in the State although the prepaid taxis were available at the Dabolim airport.
He further added that the government will not allow Ola and Uber taxi services in the State.
