Panjim:  The Governor of Goa, Satya Pal Malik has given various instructions to the Raj Bhavan for economising expenditure and making optimal usage of resources apart from taking a decision to forgo 30% of his salary for the entire financial year 2020-2021. 

Most of the Raj Bhavan officials/officers have contributed one day’s salary and a few have contributed more than a day’s salary. The Governor is of the view that this will be a small but significant contribution towards combating COVID-19 and mitigating the plight of the people. 



Economising Expenditure
. Raj Bhavan will be undertaking the following measures to reduce its expenditure such as no new capital work will be taken up in the financial year 2020-2021
. Only the ongoing works will be completed; repair and maintenance work will be minimised to only ensure proper upkeep of assets
. Consumption of office consumables shall be reduced by 20%. Floral arrangement for day-to-day and other ceremonial functions will be curtailed as austerity measure
. The invitees list for the ‘at home’ functions and other ceremonial functions will be reduced by 25%. During the ‘at home’ functions, State banquets and other ceremonial functions, the food menu, floral decoration, illumination will be arranged on a smaller scale
. Raj Bhavan will try to save energy consumption by A) switching off its lights earlier than the usual timing,    reducing the usage of all lights by 1/3rd and B) using all the electrical/electronic applications judiciously
. It will strive to incur expenditure for this financial year to the extent of 80% of its overall budget, thereby saving 20% as an austerity measure
