Governor visits Ranyache Juvem in Nadora, evinces keen interest in history of Maratha rulers

PANJIM: “Goa has rich history and has various historical places all over the State. Temples and Churches has history of hundreds of years,” said the Governor, P S Sreedharan Pillai during his visit to Ranyache Juvem in Nadora in Bardez taluka on Friday. 

During the visit to ancestral house of Rane, head of the family Mansingh Rane welcomed the Governor and felicitated the spouse of the Governor with traditional Oti.

Governor evinced keen interest with history of Maratha Rulers and the various weapons of the olden times like swords, knives etc. 

The Governor speaking further expressed his gratitude and solicited Rane family help for  writing a book on Goa’s history of Ranyanche Juvem.

As a part of Dweep  Parichay Yatra,  the Governor was on tour in Bardez.

To begin his tour, the Governor visited the 370-year-old Church of Our Lady of Victory at Revora on Thursday. He was welcomed by Fr Brian Pinto and offered prayers. Sarpanch VP Revora Kanchan V Gaonkar, Dy Sarpanch Gitesh Bagkar and others were present on the ocassion.

Later at Nadora, he visited Mauli Bhutnath Devasthan where he was received by  Minister for Fisheries Nilkanth Halarnkar. Governor and his spouse were felicitated by Mauli Bhutnath Devasthan Committee. The local village womena performed the fugdi  dance on the ocassion. Sarpanch Paresh Gawas, Dy Sarpanch Vishwajya Haldankar,  Director Dept Official Language Raju Gawas were present on the ocassion.
