Govt forms panel under CS for FMEs

PANJIM: The government has constituted a State Level Approval Committee (SLAC) to deal with the issue pertaining to the effective implementation of the proposed Scheme by Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, namely Scheme for Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (FME) in the State.

Chief Secretary will be the Chairperson of this committee. 

The State Level Approval Committee will decide on for approval of survey/studies, personal independence payment (PIP) submitted by SNA, capacity building activities of State and District officials, training and skill development calendars for State level agencies, enterprises, strengthening of State institution, subsidy proposals for groups for recommending to MOFPI, proposal for provision of Common Facilities, groups and marketing and branding, seed capital to groups. 

The SLAC will have power to sanction project expenditure up to Rs10 lakh on various activities included in the PIP.

The SLAC will also set monthly targets for the scheme in line with the overall scheme targets, monitor the progress of the scheme through the portal, ensure synergy with other relevant organisations and ensure inspection of units/CFC funded under the scheme.
