Govt notifies OTS scheme  for water consumers

PANJIM: Buoyed by the success of the Power OTS scheme wherein large number of people opted for the scheme bringing in large sums to the State treasury, the government has now introduced the similar scheme for water consumers.

The scheme called the “Dues recovery and Settlement Scheme 2020-21" under the Public Works Department for payment of dues towards water charges from all domestic & non-domestic water consumers having accumulated dues as on October 31, 2020, will be operational for just one month.

The PWD notification says that this is a One-time Settlement Scheme for the defaulted consumer(s) who have not paid their dues to the Public Works Department for utilisation of their services of providing potable water and/or sewerage services either for domestic or non-domestic purpose including bulk consumers till October 31, 2020.

The scheme shall also be made applicable to defaulted consumers whose cases are referred to the revenue recovery Court as on October 31, 2020 and also consumers whose installations are temporarily disconnected/permanently disconnected as on October 31, 2020, for non-payment of outstanding arrears, the notification said.

The scheme will also be applicable to the consumers currently availing supply from Department i.e. active consumers with accumulated arrears up to October 31, 2020.

The validity for applying for the Scheme is one month from the date of notification on the Official Gazette of Government of Goa.

“This scheme is not applicable to M/s Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited which is concerned under separate agreement,” it said.
