Govt notifies Taleigao outline development plan

Panjim: The State Government has notified Taleigao outline development plan (ODP) 2028 drafted by the Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA). 

The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board chaired by Minister Vijai Sardesai during its 164th adjourned meeting held earlier this month had granted approval for the final Taleigao ODP. 

In a notification issued on Monday, GPPDA member secretary R K Pandita has said the ODP 2028 for Taleigao planning area is notified and will come into operation under section 37(3) of TCP Act, 1974 from the date of the notification. 

“The said ODP-2028 of Taleigao Planning Area shall be subject to the provisions of “The Goa Land Development & Building Regulation 2010” as amended from time to time,” the notification stated. 

General public are informed that the ODP will be available for inspection at GPPDA office at Mala, Taleigao Village Panchayat and in Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP). 

As per the information provided by the Minister, the ODP will have a 15,000 sq mts Indoor stadium, 4000 sq mt for cemetery, parking for 200 vehicles near Church square. Besides, 30,000 sq mts has been earmarked for water harvesting, New market complex is proposed. 

A cemetery with Sea view next to Miramar road, for Rosary church is also been planned. 

“Total area of Taleigao is 9.10 square kilometres. There is a proposal for Panchayat Ghar, Animal Shelter, and baling centre for Solid Waste Management plant. There is a proposal for EDC hub at Dona Paula. There is provision for Joggers Park at Caranzalem,” Sardesai had said while approving the ODP. 

Ethnic communities of Taleigao, which include SC, ST and Fishermen, have been given benefit of their land being converted to settlement zone.
