VASCO: Stating that part of the G-20 Summit will be held in Goa, former union minister for railways Suresh Prabhu on Monday said the government plans to turn the State into a logistics hub of India.

Speaking to reporters at the Dabolim Airport, Prabhu said he will be meeting Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and some delegations to discuss the issues pertaining to mining, fisheries, tourism etc.

“I am going to request the Chief Minister of Goa to pursue the programme which was started sometime back to make Goa a logistics hub".

Prabhu said, “Goa needs something "Green" which will not damage its environment and at the same time the State needs something that can create jobs and a logistic hub has the potential to create employment without damaging the environment. I will request the Chief Minister to do that.”

He said, “An NGO in the Konkan area has made over a lakh women self-employed. We are planning to undertake similar activities in Goa too.”

On G-20, he said, “We are planning to host the G-20 Summit in India in 2023, which will be the biggest event. Part of this event will be held in Goa, and I will discuss this with the Chief Minister".
