PANJIM: In a major relief to 13 waitlist police sub inspector candidates, the High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the State government to issue them appointment letters within two months.

The Division of Justices Mahesh Sonak and Nutan Sardessai’s verdict on Wednesday came in response to a petition filed by eight of 13 waitlist PSI candidates seeking their appointment which was being deferred ever since their selection in 2016.

“We allow these petitions and direct the Respondents (State government and Goa Police) to issue appointment letters to the petitioners within two months from today, no doubt if the petitioners are otherwise found to be fit and suitable for such appointments,” an extract of the 27-page order reads.
