
PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Tuesday ordered that no construction or sale of land will be permitted till next date of hearing in the over two lakh square metres land of the Comunidade of Anjuna, which is alleged to be taken over by land grabbers by manipulating old Portuguese documents.
Advocate General Devidas Pangam said that two properties under Comunidade of Anjuna -- one more than two lakh square metres and other around 32,000 square metres are suspected to be grabbed by using the same modus operandi of the land grabbing scam in Goa.
The Comunidade of Anjuna administration filed an affidavit to this effect before the Court.
The land grabbers have allegedly forged old Portuguese documents to get sale deed and grant of land documents prepared and the same are being used to transfer land as per the new law in the names of third persons without the knowledge of the Comunidade. Using theses sale deeds construction and other licences are also being obtained, the AG informed.
The matter has been fixed for further hearing after Diwali vacation.
HC asks authorities to check legality of 179 structures at Arambol
PANJIM: Taking suo motu cognisance of illegal structures at Girikarwado, Arambol, the High Court of Bombay at Goa on Tuesday ordered authorities to inspect the 179-odd structures in the area where activities of commercial nature are being carried out and to submit a report during the next hearing on December 20.
Last week, the High Court had ordered demolition of a four storied illegal structure at Girkarwado-Anjuna but the owner from Delhi sought time till December 13 to demolish the structure.
During the investigation by authorities, it was found that the adjoining structure where commercial activity was going on was also illegal and it belonged to the family of the Arambol sarpanch. The Court has now ordered sealing of the properties.
Reacting to this development the Court had asked the Arambol sarpanch during the last hearing to list out all the structures built within the Coastal regulation Zone (CRZ) area where commercial activities were being carried out.
The sarpanch has now informed the Court that there were 179 such structures in the area. Following this, the Court ordered inspection of these structures and to submit report about the legality of the structures latest by December 20.
