Mapusa: Continuous rains led to the flooding of Guirim fields affecting the farmers. Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar blamed the depts and highway contractor for the deluge.
Salgaonkar along with the Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte inspected the site along with the PWD and Power dept. “Last year, we had opened up all the nullahs. However, due to the highway expansion, the contractor has dumped all the mud into it and the nullahs are blocked,” he said.
Khaunte added,” The farmers who had carried out sowing and manuring of crops are now facing the burnt. The govt is only focusing on the highway and not the problems of the people.”
