PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has allowed the PRN Infratech Private Limited to continue the work of constructing 250 MLD to drinking water treatment at Sal, Bicholim, till the adjudication of the show cause notice issued to them by the Bicholim Deputy Collector.
The petitioner PRN Infratech Private Limited had filed a writ petition before the High Court Challenging the show cause notice dated May 15, 2024 issued by the Deputy Collector, directing the petitioner to stop the work.
The Bicholim Deputy Collector had issued the show cause notice to the petitioner for building a temporary ready-mix plant in the agricultural land belonging to a devasthan, by illegal conversion of land and unauthorisedly using it for non-agricultural use in violation of the provision of the Goa Daman and Diu Land Revenue Code, 1968.
The Water Resources Department (WRD) had awarded the contract to the PRN Infratech Pvt Ltd vide work order dated April 13, 2023, for providing uninterrupted raw water supply to the extent of 250 MLD to drinking water treatment plants at Assonora, Guirim, Pilerne, Chandel, Mopa and Dhargalim. The said work has to be completed by December 6, 2024.
During the hearing, the additional government Adv Prasheel Arolkar, told the Court that the petitioner can continue with the work till the adjudication of the show cause notice dated May 15, 2024.
In the light of the statement, Judge Justice Jitendra S Jain allowed the petitioner to continue the work and also file his reply to the show cause notice on or before June 12, 2024.
The Court asked the Deputy Collector to adjudicate the show cause notice after considering the reply of the petitioner and to pass an order within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of the written submissions of the petitioner.
