PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said he will move file to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for seven more ambulances exclusively for COVID patients.

The statement follows the admission by the government that there is shortage of ambulances.

“In our constant effort to provide State-of-art facilities to our citizens, we will be augmenting our ambulance fleet.  Presently the fleet of GVK EMRI is handling both COVID and routine cases. In light of the rising cases, we will reactivate the file of seven additional ambulances and Secretary Health will take it up with the CM for approval at the earliest to add on to the existing fleet dedicated to COVID-19 patients,” Rane said.

The Health Secretary of Saturday had admitted that there was shortage of ambulances in the State in wake of COVID.

“The State Executive Committee had also deliberated on the issue of shortage of ambulances,” Nila Mohanan had said.
